As the Release Management Analyst, you will oversee and manage the packaging and delivery of software releases (enhancements, break fix, patches, and upgrades) to the production environments. You will coordinate releases and teams at the portfolio, program, and system level. You will also oversee adherence to deployment windows and release process by delivery teams and facilitate the appropriate communication channels between delivery roles by partnering with the business, vendors, and implementation teams. Additionally, you will:

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure smooth and reliable delivery of software systems and infrastructure to fulfill business objectives, support business processes, and ensure business continuity
  • Work with team members, decision makers, stakeholders, and management to define business requirements and system goals that can be achieved with release management enhancements and process improvements
  • Design and deploy new application and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems in conjunction with Key Stakeholders
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis and return on investment analysis for proposed releases to aid management in making release management decisions
  • Conduct research on leading release management practices, tools, techniques, and technical landscape to justify recommendations and to support purchasing of optimization efforts
  • Build the IT release calendar and work closely with other roles within IT and Development from different portfolios across IT and the organization and create a centralized view of all releases
  • Lead the effort of defining the IT strategic direction for release management tools that may be required
  • Assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and that the integrity of the release can be measured
  • Assist the IT team, System Administrators, Project Managers, and team members in planning each release
  • Proactively plan each release window across all projects and portfolios
  • Ensure that a detailed deployment plan has been documented along with a back-out plan in the event anything goes wrong during deployment
  • Validate that the product has been correctly packaged before deployment and ensure that all release controls have been satisfied
  • Manage risks and issues that may affect the release scope and schedule
  • Have a stake in and assist with measuring and monitoring progress to ensure application releases are delivered according to plan, expectations, and compliance requirements
  • Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go-no-go reviews
  • Serve as a key participant on the Change Control Board
  • Ensure that the organization’s release controls are documented and well understood by application teams and support teams
  • Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities
  • Work with teams to understand the impact of branches and code merges
  • Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across all application needs
  • Lead and coordinate the go-live activities including the execution of deployment plans and checklists
  • Participate in meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Work with communications team on the release of pre-planned communications about each release to all appropriate stakeholders and end users
  • Ensure that releases do not disrupt production or other critical activities
  • Work with vendors to ensure we are forward facing and in line with cadence of releases for could and non-cloud-based systems  

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • At least 3 years of experience with business systems analysis, release management, and environment management
  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information technology or relevant engineering discipline
  • Proven experience overseeing the design, packaging, testing, and deployment of software releases for cloud and non-cloud-based systems
  • Proven experience with release management, environment management, portfolio, and program management best practices
  • Working knowledge of current release and deployments standards
  • Extensive experience with core software applications including ERP, LIMS, and document management systems within a validated environment
  • Working knowledge of key infrastructure components (hardware, network, backups, switches, access, and security)
  • Excellent software troubleshooting experience
  • Extensive application support experience with ERP, LIMS, and eQMS systems
  • Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures 
  • Excellent understating of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Good project, resource, and capacity management skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research into release issues and tools
  • Ability to communicate in both technical and business languages/terms
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail 
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
